JACK DALEY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Parents and students, I wish to welcome you to Jack Daley Primary School. I am pleased to inform you that we have a "Highly Qualified" staff of teachers to meet the needs of your children. Our goal is to provide a safe, exciting, quality educational experience for all of our students each and everyday. We are blessed to live in a community that supports and enhances our educational programs and overall learning enviroment. It's because of the joint efforts of` teachers, parents, and community that JDPS has been labeled an "Excelling School" as well as receiving a grade of "A". We are proud of our teachers and students for the desire they have to strive for excellence.

There will be a few new faces on campus this coming year. We would like to welcome Evvie Turley as our Title 1 program assistant, Kristi Drury and Kimberly Clawsen First Grade Teachers, Charlene Stacy, and Cherrell Cooper Second Grade Teachers. We also welcome Wendy Allred K - 3 Music and Jennifer Knight JDPS Librarian. We feel very blessed to have such great people working with our children every day.

Parents just a few reminders that will help promote "Safety For Our Children":

1. Just a reminder that "Flip Flops" and "Sandals" that are not strapped on to the feet are not to be worn to school.

2. Parents your student needs to follow the dress code of the TUSD by not wearing shorts, dresses, and skirts no higher than 5 1/2 inches above the middle of the knee. Shirts must have sleeves, no tank tops or sleeveless shirts. Shirts also must cover the stomach, no midriffs. Shirts with tails must not hang lower than the webs of the hands. Please help us enforce this code it is for the safety of our children.

3. Please report to the office when coming on campus, a visitor pass will be issued to you.

4. Please check your students out at the office when taking them off campus.

5. Please take a few minutes and read through our student handbook. This should help clear up a lot of questions. (See JDPS handbook article below)

6. If you become aware of any problems that need to come to my attention please call me immediately.(348-7241)

My goal as the Principal of Jack Daley Primary School is to have a great working relationship with my staff and with the parents of the children attending JDPS. I want to continue creating a safe, and caring environment that our children look forward to coming to each day. We love each of our students and will work diligently to provide the very best for them.

Teachers are available to visit and answer your questions between 2:15 and 3:30 pm Monday thru Thursday each week. Please call for an appointment (348-7242).

Dress Code

Parents the Dress Code adopted by the Thatcher Governing Board is one that helps protect your child. There are several areas that I want to go over with you.
1. Shorts and dresses should not be shorter than 5 1/2 inches from the middle of the knee.
2. Shirts and blouses should have a sleeve. No tank tops, muscle shirts, or sleeveless blouses.
3. Caps and sunglasses are not to be worn unless we have a special day and a note is sent home. Beanies will be allowed in the cold winter months to help our students stay healthy.
4. Body piercings except for the ears is not allowed. If this occurs the student will be asked to remove the jewelry and not wear it while at school.
5. We ask that your students hair is groomed in a nice fashion and not some out landish way that will draw undo attention.
6. We do not allow flip-flops or shoes that easily fall off of the feet to be worn at school. Sandles that buckle around the ankles are allowed.
7. Skate shoes are not to be brought to school. We understand that some skate shoes can be altered so that the wheels won't extend, and they may be worn if this is done.

Parents this Dress Code is put into place for the safety and well being of your child and all of our children. For more details look at the student handbook section on the JDPS page.
